SCULPTURE

This collection of sculptures express the intersection between architecture, art and geography. The design studies explore architectural concepts while expressing a symbolic narrative of our relationship to the natural environment. The studies document a process of sketching, modeling, photo, and stone cutting.

This sculpture series is defined by the use of clean simple contour lines. The tactile use of chiseled white marble and leather finished granite create an understated tonal shift of contrasting natural materials. As the viewer revolves around each piece, an ever changing figuration creates a sense of discovery and surprise from seemingly simple forms. The design studies strive to capture that sense of wonder within simplicity, inherent in the relationship between our built and natural environment.
