XMN 1 VILLA

This project explores the spatial and material transitions between expansive open bright spaces and warm intimate spaces to create an enjoyable, elegant and timeless villa. The programmatic spaces of the villa are defined by a palette of teak wood, white marble, and controlled daylight spaces to create a lively composition of wonder and surprise within a simple palette. The bar, reading room, cinema, swimming pool, spa, and wine room overlook onto each other, extending the boundaries of each space to create a larger whole that can be both connected and separated as need be. These interconnected spaces transition thematically by controlling daylight, material palette and lighting to create a complimentary environment as the user moves throughout the villa. Strategic placement of skylights and windows allow for the optimum use of natural daylight to enhance the spatial experience of these key activity areas. Attention to detail, contrasting spatial transitions, and tactile use of materials give this project a lasting elegant quality.
